Several years ago, we began to examine the needs of the parish in a way that would attract and serve our parishioners and the wider community, enabling worship, education, and social activities. It is through this process, which included a parishioner survey in 2018 and listening sessions in 2021 that St. Peter’s has identified several priorities that are important to the future goals of our Faith Community. Our response to these goals will allow St. Peter’s to continue fulfilling its mission of more adequately serving the needs of all parishioners and will coincide with St. Peter’s Parish 150th Anniversary Celebration in 2025.
With the assistance of parish leadership (Master Plan Committee) and in collaboration with Perspectus Architects a comprehensive process examined the viability of our buildings and the overall condition of our property. Throughout the process, parishioners provided input on the most pressing needs of the parish and indicated that additional meeting and event space is a top priority. Among several other needs parishioners also expressed a desire for a narthex or vestibule which would allow for general socializing or gatherings both before and after mass.
Currently our Master Plan is focusing on the following areas:
A new Parish Social Hall and meeting rooms connected to the west side of the church
Church-School Connector & Elevator
New Maintenance Building
New Rectory
Overall Safety & Security
Our hope is that all of this could be accomplished by St. Peter’s Parish Sesquicentennial in 2025. Of course, most anniversaries are important and are usually celebrated or recognized in some way, but to be here in North Ridgeville for 150 years is a testament to our ancestors who have sacrificed a great deal over the years. They endured through wars, depressions and more to ensure St. Peter’s future. The building improvements that we make will honor those who went before us and represent a special gift of renewal for current and future generations of families at St. Peter’s.
