Ash Wednesday

"Remember, you are dust, and to dust you shall return"

March 9, 2011 - The First Day of Lent.

Ashes distributed at the following Masses: 6:30 a.m., 8:15 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Penitential Practices:

Abstinence: No meat for those over 14 years of age on Ash Wednesday and all Fridays in Lent including Good Friday.

Fasting: One one full meal (two smaller meals) for those from ages 18-59. Days of Fasting in Lent are Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

Weekdays in Lent: No obligation to fast; however, voluntary acts of kindness, prayers, some self denial (giving up something we really enjoy) are encouraged, especially the works of mercy.

Stations of the Cross are availabe every Friday in Lent at 7:30 pm.

Easter Duty: The receiving of Holy Communion during Easter time, normally preceded by Reconciliation (penance-confession).
